Regardless of the fact that i do have some anxiety issues, i really dont want to have to attend jury duty, i dont like being alone in that area and i just reallyy do not want to go period. i think being forced to do something you absolutely do not want to do for many reasons is not right you should have a choice in some cases. i dont like to be around 100's of people, and the area is very bad to be alone in. Does anyone know if you send back the summons paper with an excuse do they really check up on it like an FBI? for example, if i say im taking care of a disabled relative in another town, what exactly would they do to check? is there anyway to avoid going? i heard many people have not shown up at all and they havent gotten in trouble but im alittle scared to do that. i just cannot possibly go through this every year something is going to have to be done, this is extrememely stressful to me (i didnt think they would send me another one). if there are so many people that like jury duty why should i be obligated to go then?? i know to other people this might seem like a fun experience and dont understand why its such a hardship on people but it is on me and i already went once i dont want to go again i dont want to go AT ALL, i dont want to suffer through this every year or every 2 years. what can i do???????? what happens if they do send me one every year whats going to happen then???

I've actually gotten out of it 3 times. Once because my dd was in the hospital, but I'm sure they didn't check as her last name is different than mine, once because I had moved to another state - I just filled in the new address & was excused and once I called and pleaded my case about my anxiety over the phone. The 1st & last times were over the phone and they were very understanding. I'm sure you could get an MD note, also, stating you have panic or anxiety or are unable to perform in large crowds. Good Luck!

FWIW, I wouldn't take a chance on just not showing up. Occasionally, judges get upset about people who don't perform their civic

I agree with both the ladies, just tell them what is going on and they are usually pretty good about that. You can get a drs note and they will accept it.

Hugs and hang in there.
