Jeanie, The anafranil & luvox were 2 antidepressants that I took in the past that worked very well. I stayed on most of them for 3 years or longer. It will be 2 years next March since I stopped the meds. That was a decision my pdoc & I arrived @. My anxiety & depression were both improved. Noone has to stay on meds forever if they can learn to cope better or their symptoms improve. I am realistic about things. I know that with my past history, that there's a good chance I may need to go on meds again.

Some ppl are just more sensitive to meds & can have trouble sleeping @ night if the med is taken

Maybe you should ask your dr for a sleep aid, like Lunesta. When I changed meds I was also having trouble sleeping. I took the Lunesta for awhile and now I don't need it as much anymore (rarely). Just a suggestion to get you through.

The lunesta made me feel really drowsy the first nightt but then it got better. It let me sleep without waking and that hungover feeeling in the morning. I also use over the counter sleep aids (Generic CVS brand). And they seeem to work just as well. Obviously, check with you doctor or the pharmacist if you are taking other meds. I am currrently taking celexa, lithium, xanax, and lunesta or the OTC meds when needed.

Getting a good night's sleep can help alot with your anxiety.

Good luck.

Jeanie,

My pdoc told me that if I have a bad nights sleep then I am almost guaranteed to be anxious the next day, that has proved to be true. When your tired all kinds of things feel messed up.

Maybe a sleep med would help. I was having a hard time sleeping for a while and pdoc was going to give me meds but for some reason I started sleeping again.
