Hi Guys,

I just want to thank you for all of your replies to my first post. It has been 3 weeks since my first visit and I have gone three times. From the first visit my therapist picked up on my hypochondria, when I was younger I had a lot of medical issues and some of my anxiety is caused by worrying about getting sick. I explained a lot of things to her without trying to self diagnosis myself and she gave me a little feedback. I feel comfortable with her and I am not at all afraid of therapy anymore. I am a little unsure of what the "process" (for lack of a better word) of therapy is. Does the therapist offer any direction on how to cope with this anxiety? Do they offer any feedback?
So far she comments on the things we discuss but at the end I never really get a summary or any feedback. Frankly, I feel a little lost when I leave and I don't know what im supposed to DO. I know I should ask her, but right now I don't know what my expectations should be and I feel uncomfortable asking after only 3 visits.

Thanks again for ur input.

WOW! That is a very positive post. It does take awhile to settle in with a counselor & feel comfortable enough to ask questions. It will come in time. My best therapist was one who gave me assignments to work on. I clearly knew where I stood when I left & where I had better be, when I returned. LOL She never asked me to do things that I wasn't capable of. Keep up the good work. You sound so much better & that's great to hear! Sending P&PT's your way. (((hugs))) jan

Just keep going and when you are comfortable you can ask her for some suggestions on how to help yourself make progress.
