Hi Everyone-
I'm a bit scared. I have to drive home from work. I used to be okay doing this, but now I always have my mom talk to me. Yes, I'm a grown person, but still need this at the moment. However, she and my Dad are going out. So I'm freaked out. I took a Xanax, and I don't want to leave work. I'm getting really hot and now worried there is something wrong w/ me. Please help!!! Why me!

You can do it. Just keep telling yourself that. This is something you do practically everyday and while talking on the phone may make you feel better, it is not what gets you home. You do! The xanax should calm you some and try finding some music that you can get "lost" in on the radio so as not to concentrate so much on the possibility of panicking.

Hope this helps! Have faith in yourself.

Hi,

I use to go through the same thing! I do relate. If I could get out of the driving I would, but at times, like you are in at this moment, I would just have to do it. You CAN do this!! How far are you from home? Try talking yourself through this, I use to find that this helped, turn the radio on and sing along.

Don't let this beat you!

By now you should be home, Donna. Let us know how it went. In the future, try breaking the drive into small pieces. Tell yourself you will drive 3 miles or you will drive to a certain street or landmark. Looking @ it in small parts won't overwhelm you. Sip on water, listen to a relaxing CD(music or nature sounds or even positive thoughts are available.) Practice the belly breathing. Chew gum. Yes, you are an adult, but we all need to find peace & reassurance that we're not alone. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Hi Donna-I hope this post finds you home safely.
I have to 2nd Jan's post.
I always take a water bottle, cd's, my cell phone,
and a extra pill 'just in case something happens' when I have to drive any where.
The water helps to sip on, if I am having to 'wait' in traffic, and the music helps too.
My cell phone just makes me feel reassured. And you know what? I have never had to take the 'emergency extra pill',It just makes me feel more confident just knowing that I have it if I need it.
Please let us know how your drive home was,k?
We Care!
hugs, shasta
