I too had more anxiety and insomnia when they increased my dosage of Prozac. My doc even said that it might be a sign of manic depression too...which I guess can be aggravated with too much of it.

Hi, Julie! I know that when I was on prozac many years ago, I was up to 60 mg. I took it in divided doses @ 8AM & 12 noon. Otherwise, taken too late in the day, I was wired & unable to sleep. If you need anything, friend, please e-mail or post. Sometimes when I feel anxious, coming to the board helps. Other times, I need some time off to dump any excess stress. I am here to help in anyway I can. Just ask. Good luck & GBU! Many prayers are being said for you. (((hugs))) jan

I am doing well on the Prozac. With the rise in dosage I have only had two minor incidents of anxiety. One of which was at Wal Mart where I always get anxious.

So far so good.

(((Julie))) That's good news! What are we to do about this Walmart business? It's my trigger, too): I had a heckuva time looking @ yarn the other day. The craft department is so far to the back & I feel as if I'm a thousand miles from the exit. It's so frustrating. (((hugs))) jan

You know my problem is I think it is too visually stimulating. The People in my head get agitated. And then that brings up the anxiety. Also I don't like crowds so most oftent shop early in the morning or late at night. (Well I can't do the late at night thing anymore because I am in the bed by 10 pm every night. Usually I am in pajamas and watching TV at 8 in the bed.)

I am never able to go to their wonderful after Thanksgiving sale! I am afraid the crowds of people will suck my air away. But I always think of going and who knows maybe this year will be the year I go!

Sincerely,

Julie

Hi Everyone-
I'm glad everyone is responding to this question on prozac. I asked one yesterday and today's was very helpful seeing what you all have written.
I think i will try it tonight, is that a good idea to do it at night? Or should I wait til the weekend? I have 10mg, and its the generic, does that make sense? I would love some feedback? And should I save the Xanax if the prozac is making me anxious, or is that BAD?

Thanks, Donna

I was instructed to take prozac in the morning, Donna. It can cause insomnia if taken too close to bedtime. What does your prescription bottle say? As for the xanax, it works quickly. Usually within 1/2 hour. It takes prozac 4 to 6 weeks to cover anxiety. These meds are very different & work in different ways. HTH (((hugs))) jan
