Question about Rozerem

Hi! I'm new here, I just visited the board yesterday for the first time. I'm 26 and have been having anxiety/panic attacks and DEFINITE trouble sleeping. I was prescribed Effexor about three weeks ago, and it has already been working wonders, but it hasn't really improved my sleep; so the doc prescribed Rozerem. I am picking it up this evening; so I haven't tried it yet. I was just wondering if anyone here has tried it and how has it worked for you?

Thanks!!

Hello! It's great to have you here. We want you to feel better & learn to cope with anxiety/panic. Check out our *coping tips & tricks* folder below. I had my first PA when I was 17 & recently turned 53. I have had many more good times than bad in my life. I encourage you to accept the support of our caring community.

I took effexor for 3 years & it successfully treated my panic with minimal side effects. I do know that sleeping can be a problem for some folks. Especially if they take their meds too close to bedtime. When do you take the effexor? As for your new med, I'm not familiar with it. Hopefully someone else will be along who can tell you their experience. Keep in touch. If you have a chance, join in our chat this evening. You are very welcome here. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Thanks for your response! It turns out my insurance doesn't cover the Rozerem, so I won't be taking it after all. The nurse suggested I try melatonin.

I take the Effexor in the morning because I didn't want to risk it messing with my sleep. I actually don't have alot of trouble falling asleep -- it seems to be the staying asleep that I have trouble with :).

You said you took Effexor for three years? My doc said that when the time comes, she'll definitely wean me off of it slowly -- but I was wondering if you had any problems coming off?

Thanks!

Let us know if you try the melatonin & how it works. I went off of the effexor very slowly but still had flu like symptoms & an occasional feeling like an an electrical zap in my arms, legs & head. Also, I did alot of crying but that is a normal experience for me regardless of what AD I take:) I still think it was a good med for me & would do it all over again. Nice to have you post back. Have you read the insomnia articles on iVillage? Here goes: http://health.ivillage.com/sleep/slinsomnia/topics/0,,4vkq,00.html

Hi! Thanks for the link to the insomnia articles -- I will DEFINITELY read those! I've been on the melatonin for several days now and it really does work. The pills are 2.5mg and they dissolve under your tongue. I've noticed that they seem to work a little better each night even.
