I Had a Panic Attack...

Hi everyone,
I have been doing pretty good lately. Last week I started my period and i felt a bit "off" but I was still doing ok.
So, tonight I was eating dinner and all of

I think it's just like you said, it's the 1st time you had to just sit down & it hit you. That's how it usually is for me, when I am relaxed and least expecting it. Plus you did the long trip to the Cape, so you're probably tired, too ?! Good luck with the ENT doc, I hope he has some insight for you. Post away, that's what friends are for :)

hello heather,
As I posted in another thread, Heather, I had a bad PA on Friday night that awakened me from a sound sleep. For me those are the scariest & I know that my monthly had alot to do with it. FWIW, the attack is over now. What you need to overcome is the fear of another one. You know how to do this. Keep those positive affirmations in your mind. Keep busy. As you move further away from this PA, you will worry about it less & if it's scaring you, even that will have little effect on you.
I am glad you had the coping skills in place. Reading the Bible is a good one for some of us. Did you use the belly breathing or have to use your klonopin? Give yourself a big pat on the back & here's a huge hug from me! Good luck! Keep up the good work! jan
Heather,
So sorry that you had a PA. Sounds like you had a lot on your plate at the time and your body wanted to tell you to stop and take a break. Who really knows?? I seem to get them out of the blue and when I am severely stressed. I need to develop better coping skills and hopefully head them off.
Glad you have a couple appointments this week to help you.
Good Luck,
Lisa
Oh Heather, I am sorry to hear about your PA. I agree you had a busy couple of days....traveling down to the Cape for the whole day and night (great job by the way! :)), then with Ryan getting his bloody nose, etc. Those are definatley triggers. Sometimes when something stressful happens to me, I won't get a PA right then, it usually is later that night or the next day....
Good luck...thinking of you.

Oh Jan,
I am SO SORRY. It is so hard when it happens.
I take klonopin 3x a day everyday so I was taking that anyway. YES, I did di belly breathing... it helped a lot to calm me down.
I didn't even tell dh, I just got up and went into the bathroom.. after I had calmed down he came in and asked if I was ok and I told him what had happened...
He is such a GREAT support, he just hugged me and I read a Bible passage that
I've had that happen to me many times. It's so frightening but we have to remember that it can't really hurt us and that it will pass. Hope you're feeling better!
