John came in and asked me if I wanted to go to the movies - to Chicken Little. I honestly thought he was kidding, lol. We haven't been to the movies in about 6 years, Titanic was the last movie we went to! and we've never brought Ian to a movie. I said sure, it starts in 10 minutes & off we went. We walked outside & he said "you're driving!" Cool, so I get in drive to the theatre & sit through the whole movie with no anxiety whatsoever. I did get nervous thinking about what I would do if he went to the bathroom & left me sitting thre alone, I don't feel comfortable being alone & haven't had to be alone in a very long time in a public place. BUT, he went to the bathroom, I did fine and was so proud of myself. I just want to shout to the world, lol, but nobody would understand, except for my very special friends here on this board. While I was driving, I thought about the success everyone else was having & it honestly gave me strenght. Thank you gals! When we left the theatre, I didn't want to drive because people were pouring out of the theatre & traffic was a mess, plus there were people swarming all over the parking lot & I didn't want to back out and hit some little kid - I can't see well in the dark at all! So I thought of Heather (yes, you Heather :) always telling me not to push myself too hard. And instead of beating myself up over not grasping the opportunity to drive, I told myself, that's okay, you accomplished 2 things today, one of my goals was actually to sit through a movie without freaking out & that was a biggie for me! Thanks again, let's keep up the good work, you ALL motivate me :)
Hugs,
Sheri Ann
P.S. And this was AFTER I walked up and watched the parade for 1 1/2 hours !!

Sheri Ann.....fantastic you are totally awesome ..... I'm so very proud of you. Sounds as if you're licking this anxiety one step at a time. Just keep on stepping. And tell us did you enjoy the movie?

Woo-hoo! Way to go! I almost had to drive today and was ready to do it but we ended up taking someone else's car. I like to think that it would have been OK. But, as you all know, the fear of the panic attacks can be just as disruptive as the attacks themselves sometimes and that is my problem with driving.
Be proud!
AWESOME Sheri Ann!
Good for you!
Did Ian like the movie? My Boys loved it....
