I really like the therapist I have. She works great with panic disorders and we have my therapy process all mapped out and I feel so encouraged by it. It was such a relief to go in there and express everything I've been experiencing without shame or embarrassment.

The first thing she wants me to do is talk to my doctor about going on Xanax. She thinks that for my situation that I might need it for the panic attacks that I cannot get a handle of on my own. We want to 'reroute' the direction I take by not having me get to the point of calling my husband or family members or church members and ending up in the ER. She also wants me to find as many things as I can that relax me and calm me down here in my home. We are then going to incorporate those into a new way of coping with the panic attacks. I will see her weekly for a little while and then when I'm ready it'll be every other week. She believes this will take no longer than six months for recovery. :)

Congratulations! It's so important to find someone you're comfortable with and that you believe will help you (that's half the battle). It sounds like you've got some great coping tools already. Good luck trying them out!
