Ok , I started Effexor last week and so far its has done me a world of good. I'm eating less, not stressing near as much..I feel "ahhhh" when I'm on it. I've tried everything and I hope that it keeps doing so great. My questions:

Has anyone liked/disliked Effexor? WHy/why not?

How did it help you?

I was on it for 3 years for panic attacks & it worked well. No major side effects. If I needed too, I would take it again. HTH Glad to hear that it's working for you.

I haven't used Effexor personally, but I'm so glad it is working for you!

Hi, Amy! Nice to see you again. Sure wish you were feeling better.

I cannot say enough good stuff about the effexor. But I will be very upfront with you. My serotonin levels are very low. I have to take higher than normal doses of SSRI's for them to be effective. That being said, I was worked slowly up to 325 mg. of effexor before it helped me. You may have a ways to go before you find the right dose.

As for your irregular periods, many of us are very sensitive to our hormonal changes. It can certainly trigger both depression & anxiety. Since your levels seem to be normal(I have to ask what IS normal for any of us. KWIM?) have you considered using soy products or herbals that may help? Always get the doctor's ok before trying anything because some herbals shouldn't be taken with AD's. A few years ago when I had very heavy periods, I used the evening primrose oil & it helped. My gf tried it for her female troubles & still takes it. Just a suggestion, as I have no professional training in herbals.

Good luck & GBU! Keep in touch. (((hugs))) jan

I took it for over 2 years and it worked very well for me. Getting off it was difficult though.

I used to get mine every 2 weeks, they never found anything wrong with me.
