What is the difference between the two. I am having a hard time finding a clear cut definition for the two.

I love when they say neurotic is one suffering from neurosis, duh!

TIA

Thanks Sheri Ann.

I'm asking because I just finished my "I hate you, don't leave me" book on BPD. In the last chapter it mentions that BPD's balance between neurotic & psychotic. It says that They are always more extreme than neurotic but can sometimes reach phychosis especially during an anger episode or when doing those ink blot things so I wanted to know exactly what that meant. This was a great book. I just put it on dh's desk for his reading pleasure, lol. I need and want for him to understand this plus there are tips in there for him to get out of those catch 22 situations I put him in.

Mosby's is pretty much the law in the medical profession. I'm glad Sheri was able to post the definitions. Whereas, I am neurotic whenever I imagine that my panic attack is a heart attack, I would be psychotic if I was convinced that it was a heart attack. That it was an unshakeable

Thanks Jan. Acutally I do have hallucinations and delusions but the delusions are much less frequent than the hallucinations. I think from time to time I cross into the psychotic area but it's not a constant thing for me.

The book is "I hate you - don't leave me" by Jerold J. Kreisman, M.D, & Hal Straus.
