Hi, Vickie! You are very welcome here:) I am sorry to hear about your problems with anxiety/depression & now hives. As you have gleaned from the posts, you are NOT alone. Most of our members have faced the same issues. It's good to hear that the prozac is working. I hope you continue to improve. If your goal is to return to work, we'll be glad to support you in achieving that goal.

Hives are sort of mysterious when there isn't a clear cause for them. I have heard of

Vickie, I agree with the other ladies. I myself sometimes suffer from hives that usually occur when my anxiety level is high. Do you have any indication that the hives are on there way, perhaps like an itching first? That's how mine start and I have found the use of a certain soap will stop them from appearing, for me anyways. They are enough to drive one up the wall with the itching.

I too get hives when I am really nervous or stressed. Somethings I found helpful was to take cool showers, the heat makes the hives worse for me. Sometimes if you can feel the hives starting and you take a benedryl right away the hives don't spread. Also cortizone cream works in tough spots like inbetween your toes and fingers. Of course I would do what your doctor tells you, but I thought I would just share some of the things that helped me when i was in a break out. Good luck I hope you find some releif from those hives I know how uncomfortable it can be.

On my very first date ever with a guy I broke out in 40 hives. I think that's enough said that anxiety can cause hives. I'm glad I never went out with him again because I would have hated for that reaction to repeat itself!
