Just wondering how bad anxiety.....

Hi, I am new to you all, and hoping you can help me figure out what is going on with me. I feel like it might be anxiety, but it actually leaves me unable to think clearly, and emotional from being tired. Sort of like my nerves had been shot, and one more stresser does make me blow.

Good way to show this would be to tell you what happened to me this weekend when picking up my daughter...who i love. I live way in southern oregon, but my ex sent her to portland, or...where i had to drive all the way up to. I was already having physical signs of anxiety. I was already prepared for this because I go through them all the time at school. They usually leave me unable to do the work that needs to be done. this time though they only got worse as the day got closer. I couldn't sleep at all the night before, since I was so scared of forgeting something. Problem is I did forget something. I forgot to bring enough money for all the gas on the way back. So i had even more extreme anxiety...which made things worse. By the time i got home I was wiped out. The next day...I was emotionally very sencitive to everything people were doing. This didn't help since it was family, and so one of my sisters told me she was mad at me for forgetting the money. this just hurt...and I blew up. It has been two days now and I ma still wiped out, and having a hard time getting up and going.

So can anxiety get this bad? Or am I just a mental case? I hope someone can help....Forest

Hi, Forest! Welcome to our caring community. Anxiety can take many forms. I have found it in our best interest to see a dr. for a good check up to see what's going on. There are medical conditions that can mimic anxiety. None of us are professionals, so we can't make a diagnosis. Once you find out what is causing your feelings, then you can follow the prescribed treatment plan.

If it is anxiety, learning how to identify your stressors & cope better is essential. For many of us, as well as the current research findings, a combination of medication & therapy works the best. Please read through our discussions & join in. Visit our chats. Sheri Ann will be hosting one tonight. Click on the link on our front page to learn more about our community. There's a wealth of info on anxiety that may be helpful.

You are NOT alone. You are NOT going crazy! We care & want you to overcome your concerns. I hope it helps to know that we're a very sensitive group of individuals. Hopefully that will give you some comfort. Good luck & GBU! Don't be a stranger. (((hugs))) jan
