when anxiety/depression affects your job

What do you do when your anxiety and/or depression starts to affect your job performance? I've been about to cry all morning (and I still feel like I was hit in the stomach) because my boss sent me an e-mail telling me my productivity was lower than anyone else's and that I'm not getting as much done as I need to. What do I do? After a couple of hours to calm down, I replied back (after my best friend proofread for me) and eluded to the fact that I had a lot on my mind, including health issues, blah blah. Won't happen again, blah.

What if he asks what's going on? Do I have to tell him? And in the meantime, what do I do? Obviously, my Wellbutrin-XL and weekly therapy are not enough. I'm going to my therapist tomorrow, and next week I have an appointment with my p-doc. I'm just scared because I feel like I've been slipping now for quite awhile (and not just at work). I can't seem to handle anything without it turning into an anxiety attack. I went from having them several times a year to now having one almost every week. I'm tired. I'm drained. And I know I'm not taking good care of myself. I haven't had an appetite in weeks.

(((Laura))) What you tell your boss totally depends on you. IMHO, the least said the better. (As far as details go.) Because what you tell might be misinterpreted & some folks are NOT understanding & may decide that you're just making excuses. Does your employer offer any support services? Alot of them do have employee counseling. Most employers want to keep people with problems productive. It's more cost effective to keep you on the job, than hire & train a
