Yep! You got it right. The benzos won't be covered. There MAY be some Medicare approved plans that will cover them, but I am not aware of any. (they would vary from sate to state.)

I'm sorry, I don't have to deal with Medicare at this point in my life but I really wanted to voice my opinion about not including benzos.

I am not sure if this will help but I wanted to say that I know that a lot of the anti-depressant companies have programs that help people who are low income or on disability get low cost meds or for free, maybe the company that owns xanax might have a similiar program its worth looking into it. I saw a news show about medicare dropping benzo and how a large number of seniors are hurting because of it. I feel deeply sadden by this, as someone who is suffering from anxiety on a daily basis it is unjust to deny people something that could make life brighter. I am sorry your HMO is doing this to you, I hope you find a way to get the xanax. Please keep us informed on what you find out.
