Hello,
I wanted to say hi to everybody and just tell a little about myself.
My name is Anja, I am originally from Germany. Married to a soldier, whom I met in Germany. :)
We have a son, Ryan, he is 6 years old and in Kindergarten ( which was harder on me than on him when he started last fall) and he is the light of my life.
Ryan has asthma and food allergies, but other than that is very healthy. He does get nosebleeds too lately, was just thinking about Heather's dilemma. But he gets them because he picks his nose. :)
Anyway, I have had trouble with anxiety since I was 18, am now 36 ahhhhhhhhhhh. Somedays I can't believe I am as old as my mom seemed to be when I was growing up.
Two years ago we had to move once again ( the wonderful Army life) and the stress of the move and being on a Betablocker for heart palpitations put me into clinical depression. I had never experienced anything like that before, like this nightmare that won't end.
Thankfully to Lexapro and counseling I came out of it and got better. I was only on Lexapro for 8 months til summer of 04.
I thought I was doing pretty good, but then my husband left for Korea for one year, I took a trip back to Germany and my husband came home, all my neighbors moved this last summer. Then my son was diagnosed with food allergies and then.........I just kind of collapsed. I definitly don't deal well with stress.
So the anxiety came back and I am once again on Lexapro. Slowly I am getting more functional, but I am not there yet. Hopefully I can stay on the medicine for a while.
I am grateful for others like you who understand how hard it is to deal with anxiety etc.
When I was younger I thought I was the only one crazy and everybody else was normal. Of course always afraid to mention my anxiety to anybody worried about what they thought of me.
But thankfully nowadays there is a lot more understanding for anxiety and depression and the realization that it is an illness that can be treated and its not just in somebodies head.
Wishing ya'll a great day and peace of mind!!
Anja

Hi Anja & welcome!! I'm so glad you stopped by.

Hi Anja,
Ahhh yes, nosebleeds.. I am a professional at dealing with them. If your son gets them then I would suggest that you go to Wal Mart and get QR Nosebleed, it is in the 1st Aid section. In case he gets one that you have a hard time stopping that works immediately.
Anyway, welcome to the board, I have a "Ryan" also. I am glad that you found us, we are a great supportive group. I am happy that you are getting the help that you need..
Take Care!
Welcome, sounds like you have had a lot of changes in the last couple of years. My son is 6 and is in kindergarten this year too. Its hard letting go, I want him to stay 6 forever :)

Anja welcome to the board. It is nice to find a group of people that understand you. We're a great caring group to ask questions, vent, share news with, or just to talk with.
