HI,
I have been living with GAD and PD for 6 years now. I was doing really well the past 6 months. But I had a car accident 2 weeks ago and although I was not badly hurt my anxiety has come back bad!! I am just so mad and fusrated. I went to the doctors on Friday and was given permission to go back to work. But then on Saturday I went to the mall with my husband and had walked maybe 50 ft and I had a panic attack!! I am now suffering from vertigo. I think that it is a combination of my ears and panic. I am having pain in my ears and feel like my sinus are bothering me. I did not hit my head in the accident, I had my seat belt on. I went to hosptial and was checked. I did have a stiff neck and back for few days.
I hate to admit that this is my anxiety again. I was doing so well, felt like I had my life back and then this. I have had vertigo before and it was related to the anxiety.
I am going to have to call my therapist again. I just hate this disorder. I try so hard to live with it and help others that I know have it and feel like I am failure when it comes to my self. I have spent all morning in tears.
Well thanks for reading. I am hoping that finding a support board will help. It did before. I used to come to ivillage years ago.

Hello, Leigh! Welcome to our caring community. You are NOT alone. Many of us have a return of anxiety after a significant life event. Trauma or accidents or even illness can be a trigger. The good news is that you're ok from the accident. Thank God! Also, it should put your mind @ rest a bit, that you have had long periods of anxiety free living. You can have that back.
Firstly, I know many of us have had the dizziness with anxiety. Inner ear problems brought on by colds & sinus trouble can cause dizziness, too. If it isn't relieved, you can always talk with your dr. Sometimes we need that extra bit of professional assurance. There's no shame in that. I have needed it myself many times.
I think talking with your therapist is a good idea. Do you take meds or would you consider it? How have you coped with the anxiety/panic in the past? I use the belly breathing & positive affirmations to get me through. I meditate daily to assist me in relaxing. We have alot of helpful hints in the *coping tips & tricks* folder below. Also, we have evening chats on Tues. & Thurs. that have proved helpful to many of our members. Watch for the post tomorrow.
It's great to have you here. We want you to succeed in getting your life back. Please don't be a stranger. Post anytime. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan
HI,
Thanks for responding.
I use breathing alot for my anxiety and panic. I had my panic pretty much under control.
When I would feel an attack coming on I knew what to do and it did not upset me as much as it did before.
I have always had a problem with the anxiety. I have a hard time still controling and handling it, but was getting much better until the accident.
I know in my heart that this will get better but sometimes it is just so hard.
I will come back and post more and hopefully be able to join chat.
Thanks again.
Hi Leigh, I'm glad you came back to ivillage for support.
