Have to go back to work, having panic

It has been 3 weeks since my car accident and I am going back to work on Monday. I feel pretty good and feel I am ready to go back but scared of having a panic attack.

Since my accident I have not really been alone when I go out. I have not really had any panic attacks just alot of anxiety. Yesterday my dd needed to go to the doctors, so my friend drove us. She waited in the car for us so I went in alone with my dd. The moment I entered that office I started to have a panic attack. This is an office that I have been going into with my kids for 15 years and it was not crowded at all. I made it through the appointment and did not say anything to anyone but now I am scared of going back to work on Monday. No one at work knows I have anxiety and panic disorder. I have only worked there 4 months and do not feel comfortable yet telling anyone there.

I guess maybe it is going back to my normal routine that scares me alot. That was a very normal day and boom look what happened.

Any suggestions on how to make it through next week without alot of panic??

Thanks

Leigh

Hi, Leigh! WB! Have you made an appointment with your therapist? Have you considered taking meds? Before the day is out, maybe you could talk with someone that would prescribe something that you could take temporarily or on an as needed basis. There's a very good chance that once you get back to work & in your routine, that you won't need to take anything. Some of us are reassured that we do have meds in our pocket. Just in case.
