Husband panic attacks

My husband has suffered from panic attacks for 20 years, due to his dad dying unexpectedly from a heart attack at age 46. Now I am really afraid for him because his best friend is dying of cancer and my dh is visiting him every day. I can just see my dh going downward witnessing this. But he can't seem to help himself from going over every morning. Do you think this experience will harm him? He's been coping with his attacks basically unmedicated jusing only the occasional clonazapam.

Hi! It's nice to see you on the board:) It's good to know that you're concerned about your husband & have his best interests in mind. I can see where you would be worried. I guess my question would be, how has your hubby been doing all these years with just the clonazepam? If he is coping well with the panic?

thanks, he's quite functional with his panic attacks, luckily he has a job where he can reschedule his day/interviews when he's not doing so well. He would have a lot of trouble in a 9-5 job I believe, the trapped feeling where you can't leave. Seminars and meetings are usually hard and he will be restless days in advance knowing he has to attend them. He friend did die this weekend and he is thinking of taking some time off work. I encourage him tto stay busy and work a bit this week.
