Hind sight is 20/20, My Augmentation

Scared would sum it up today.

I had a spot which seemed to have a piece of dry skin, Well today I went to take a shower and it looked almost like a calous with the white around it so I squeezed a little and all of this green/grey discharge came out. Sorry, TMI. I was so freaked & scared. My hands were shaking furiously so I had take a xanax to calm myself down.

I called the on call dr who saw me and said that it's not infected but could become so. He gave me keflex to take until I can get in to see my normal ps this week. He said this could be very minor or very serious, Please keep your fingers & toes crossed that this is the minor because the seriuos will require more surgery for me : ( I'd have to have the implants removed. It's not like I haven't considered this already but I don't want it to be a forced decision.

I have to change the bandage again to see if the drainage has stopped. I'll continue to drain it as needed. He told me to put neosporin on it as well and to keep it covered until the drainage stops.

All I can say at this point is hind sight IS 20/20

Thank you Sheri Ann.

I am quite freaked about this. To boot my stomach does not like keflex long term and especially at this dose so this will be interesting. I just changed the bandage a bit ago and it's still draining some : (

I'll keep you posted.

I have debated about saying anything, but for your safety, I'm throwing in my 2 cents. That drainage ought to be cultured & sent to the lab. If it is an infection, that's the only way they can know what antibiotic to prescribe. You may be taking the keflex needlessly. I hope you can see the dr. first thing this week. Good luck & GBU! I am glad that you said something Jan. I've already left a message for the ps so they'll call me in the morning. They are great about getting people in on short notice so I'm not worried. The nurse has gone as far as to tell me if I EVER have any concerns just walk in and they will fit me in so I pretty much expect to see him tomorrow, fingers crossed.

It's looking much better today. I think that there might have been a stitch still stuck in there and that the on call dr got it out.

I'll update when I know more for sure. Again I'm glad you put in your .2

Danielle,

I really don't know much about any of this, I can just tell you my observation...

It seems so me that you were GREAT before you had the surgery and since then it has been on issue after another. I wonder if it is somehow connected... ? Maybe the stress the you went through prior to surgery, and the stress of recovery???

Let me know how it goes please....

We love you and worry!

Hi Heather,

I've put a lot of thought into all of this, more than I should have in the beginning. I think what you mentioned has some to do with it, I should have listened to my gut instead of others when it didn't feel like something was right, my being a smoker probably had something to do with it as well as post op stress.

I also believe that I am the Queen of rare complications. There is no reason I should have suffered that bowel obstruction, it was one of those rare 1 in a million chance complications as is what happened to me after the plastic surgery. Even with me being a smoker it was a very rare complication.

You can see now why I feel the way I do about the lexapro. I believe it simply didn't work for me, that the result I suffered was that of yet another rare complication.

I believe that even when bad things happen there is a reason for it. I've found that time will reveal that reason and until then I just have to go with the flow. I learned that hard lesson after my bowel obstruction. While everyone else was mad I simply chalked it up to the fact that there was a reason WHY it happened.

Thanks for your support. I hope to hear from the nurse in the next hour or so. It is looking MUCH better today. I honestly thing there was a left over stitch and that is what caused the irritation. The puss has probably been building for a long time and that's why there was so much, just my theory anyway. I'll let you know what happens.

Danielle I know it is a little late to offer
my good wishes however this post was in a place I usually
don't check---- I am sending positive thoughts your way!!
You have had enough stress and it is time for things to improve-
I am hoping that you have gotten an answer by now and are
on the road to feeling better!!
My belly HATES KEFLEX also but it is the only antibiotic I am
not allergic to!! RARE yes! I so hate that word!! It can mean
any amount of possibilities depending how it is used------and by whom!!
BUT THAT IS MY Distress with doctors coming through--- GOOD LUCK!! Judy

I go tomorrow Sheri Ann.

There are so many stitches in there you'd be surprised plus they are flesh colored which makes it all the harder to find them. We found one after an appt one time that the dr had missed so we removed it ourselves. It felt like fishing line but was flesh colored.

I'll update when I get home tomorrow, 1:15pm my time MST

Thanks for asking
