hi i have only posted a few times- due to lack of time, but i try to read, and i want to thank everyone who has answered my posts, so thank you.
my question is in regard to lexapro. i started taking 10mg. but only took it for 2 days when igave up. i felt a calm feeling, but then also felt some nervousness, in my stomach. of course i suffer from anxiety and mild depression. so i was, and am very anxious about taking meds, since i never have. my p doc told me take half and i did the same thuing and chickened out! about a month ago my pdoc told me to try it again that it may just be my own anxieties not the med so i did i took 5 mg. for a little less than a month and with the help of my therapist i calmed down and they worked!! well now the 5mg seemed not to be enough, so istarted the 10 again, and of course was anxious about doing it. it has been 3 days and am experiencing that nervous feeling again, so today ionly took 5mg. myques. is if it is the med making me feel nervous will it pass?
do you think i should try the 10 again? has anyone experienced this, and if so what did you do??
thank you for your listening and great advice

I am on lexapro and have been since last April. I started on 5mg and that made me vomit, then I went to 10mg and that also made me vomit. That lasted for about a week or so..
I also had increased anxiety during that period. I had klonopin to offset that a bit. My Dr said that it is normal to have increased anxiety in the beginning. I stuck with it becaue I knew that I couldn't bring myself to take a different med. I was so scared about the lexapro.
When I went to 20mg I didn't have any side effects at all. Then when I went to 30mg I did have some stomach pain, it was controlled by a heating pad and went away in a few days.
I have been on 30mg for
Lol, not too many questions.

Hello Kathy,
I don't know if I have introduced myself or not but, just in case I haven't, I am lynn and
welcome! wow 3 boys. I tryed lexapo along time ago it worked great for me and getting off
of it was very easily, for me no withdraws. I had test anexty so bad I had to leave the
room. Then my panic attacks got worse due to my son going to Iraq and my pdoc said I
needed something different. So I started a fairly new med and now I am still in the trial
stage of this med working, but I am hopeful and I do stay busy most of the time so I
didn't notice if I had any side effects on the lexapo,If I did they wern't very
noticiable, but I really can't remember. I too get scared in changing meds, but if it
will help me the tool is worth trying.I do take xanax when I can not seem
to contol it myself, less then what the pdoc has prescribed and it works well for the
most, But lexapo did good. Good luck at least you are willing to try and that is all any
of us can do.. Sheri Ann is such a good person as you can see.. Good luck to the both of
you.

Sheri Ann,
Thank you so much for your reply, and your advice. I have been taking the 5mg. now for about 5 weeks, and I think it's time for an increase( I did try the 10 but I felt too anxious) I am going to cut my pills as well now into 4 and tomorrow I will try to take 3/4 of the pill. I know so many people who take this and have only wonderful things to say about it. I hope your insurance went through and I hope you were able to start your meds-peacefully, I will be thinking about you. Heather did reply as well , you guys are great thank you so much. I am going to try really hard to get this med to work without my added anxiety about it.
Kathy
Heather,
thank you so much for your reply, and for sharing your story. You give me hope that this will work for me.
When I started taking the 10mg I felt that I had severe panic, of course it scared me so I only took it for 2 days, this is the first time I have ever taken anything.
Then I tried 5 mg. same thing.
My pdoc told me to give it another try and I did, at 5mg. I relaxed, saw my therpist and felt much, much better, calmer more in control, it was great. Now almost 5 weeks later I do not feel as good. I wonder if this means it's time to increase. So my pdoc said I could increase if I felt I needed to. I did. Again chickened out of the 10mg. due to anxiety, which wasn't always but came in spurts, more so when I obsessed about taking it , and less when I was busy. So I think most of it is from my thoughts.
I am now going to try 3/4 of a pill-thanks to Sheri Ann, and of course my p doc, tomorrow.
I am hoping it will start to get me back to where I was with the 5mg.
How long before you felt better? How did you know you wanted to increase, as I see you have.
Again thank you so much for your general concern. I hope you are doing well.
Your boys are adorable! :)
