Hello, I am new to this website and board. It seems that most people have "reasons" for their anxiety.......in a way it scares me because I don't know the cause of mine. This seems so strange to me and it's pretty frusterating.......
I am also in an anxiety program (10 ppl) where everyone seems to have experienced something as a cause of their anxiety and I am sitting there freaking out because I don't know 'what I have to work on or deal with'. I have generalized anxiety and panic attacks. I have talked to a therapist and there are little things througout my life that may have contributed but the anxiety sort of came out of the blue about 4 yrs ago. I am 24 yrs old girl by the way.
Anything from anyone would help, thanks!

I believe anxiety is a result of an inner conflict.

Hello, Zarah! You are very welcome here. I hope that finding others much like yourself will be of some comfort. You don't need to be analyzed deeply & long term to come to grips with your diagnosis. Although anxiety sufferers do seem to have a tendency to WANT to find a reason for their disorder, it isn't all that necessary. I know that I had unresolved issues throughout life that may have been triggers. However, I had anxiety as a small child. Long before the issues. To me it's a chemical imbalance first & foremost. Would it be helpful to overcome this obstacle by refocusing your attention to learning to cope with the anxiety? That has worked for alot of people in our community. It might help to meditate or practice yoga or mindfulness to learn to let go of your concerns.

Please feel free to join in our discussions. Check out our *coping tips & tricks* folder below. We know from our experiences that you can live the good life you deserve in spite of anxiety. We care & want to see you living that life. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Zarah,
Hi! I'm pretty new to this board as well and so far I absolutely love that I found it! And I have to say I LOVE your name. It is one my husband and I are considering for our baby if it's a girl(i'm 21 weeks prego :)

There can be many different causes of anxiety disorders. If you can't recall a particular event or a series of events that may have started your anxiety, it more then likely is a chemical imbalance of certian chemicals in your brain. Has physical reasons been ruled out? My anxiety started because of low blood sugar about two years ago. I had a wonderful life, I was pretty happy then bam started getting nailed with panic attacks. Fortunately, I had a doc that I had been going to since I was born so he knew me pretty well and ordered a battery of tests for physical causations. Lo and behold I am horribly hypoglycemic and I find it more and more astonishing how many people I am finding that have hypoglycemia and anxiety disorders. There is also many other medical issues that take on the form of panic attacks and anxiety. Thyroid problems is another one.

I wish you the best of luck in dealing with your disorder and I hope you find some answers to your questions. Keep us updated on how you are doing. :)
