Hello & welcome. In all honesty, stress & anxiety can cause forgetfulness. We lose our attention & focus, but not to the severity that you are describing. Paranoia also does not fit the picture of anxiety.

Hi,

For me, when my anxiety is at its height it I am forgetful. I can be in the kitchen emptying the dishwasher and then just walk away and do laundry and forget all about it. My therapist told me that a way to help with it is to really concentrate on the task at hand, actually talk yourself through it step by step. Also reading, crossword, or wordsearch puzzles are great to keep your mind going.

Has your SO saught help with this? I let my anxiety build up until I had a horrible panic attack and it make it even worse.

GL to you and your SO and please continue to post as you need. We are always here to help the best that we can.

Thanks to all for the response.

My SO is a veteran, we got him into the VA system here in SC and the first available appointment is April 16.

Things are really tough out there, Bev. Especially when you have a full plate. Here's some ideas that might help. For low cost mental health care: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-bhpanic&msg=18092.1&ctx=4096
