Anxiety after 10PM?

Hi guys,
I wonder if you can help me......I'm 44, married, no kids.
For the past 2 months I'm going through something strange. I can't take it any longer.
When 10PM strolls along I get this awful anxiety w/ terrible fast heart beats. My husband goes to bed by 9:00 because he's up by 5AM every morning so there's no one to talk to when I get this. So, I've been calling my Mother 10PM and 11PM to say good-night. This is starting to bother her because she jumps every time the phone rings so late at night. She said starting tonight I cannot call her past 8PM anymore. Guys, I don't know what I'm going to do. I have Xanex and that isn't hardly working either. What do I do when I get this anxiety crap tonight and I can't call Mom??? It's a horrible feeling, I could jump out the window for pete's sake. Any suggestions? Should I make myself a cocktail at 10PM? Will that help me? Xanex is not doing it's job. W/B please. Thanks. Laura

Welcome Laura,

I am Lynn I'm not sure if I have meet you are not, but Just in case welcome. Have you

called you dr. and share this with him about the after 10:00 anxiety? You have the board

some of us stay up late and some don't, but you never know,I am no dr, but if it was me I

would have to replace the call with something else like maybe come to the board and look

at some of the coping techniques we have. When I have allot on my mind sleep is not

something I even thing about, also do you take naps in the daytime do you exercise,You

aren't along and I am sure there several out there who have allot more advice then myself

but come here and read the post. You are not along.

Lynn

Hello, Laura! It's great that you found us. I hope it's a comfort to know that you are NOT alone. I have alot of experience in nighttime anxiety/panic. As a result of awakening with panic attacks during the night, I was afraid to drop off to sleep. As soon as it got dark out, the fear began to build. I used the belly breathing & positive thinking to help me stay calm. I followed a strict routine that brought alot of comfort. I had a warm bath, a cup of chamomile tea. I read a book or worked on my needlework & listened to soothing music. I have a couple CD's of chanting monks. It's very unobtrusive & benign.
