I purchaced Rescue Remedy.I opened it and smelled it and could not believe how bad it smells like alcohol. Then I read the ingredients 27% alcohol.I have to wonder if its the alcohol that calms you down.Needless to say I wasted my money.Silly me, I thought it was going to smell like flowers.

Jeanie, it does have a high alcohol content, but you are only using a drop or two, not tablespoons.

Hi Sheriann,
Hello,
I have used Rescue Remedy several times - mainly before presentations at work where I get REALLY worked up about them. I honestly think it has helped. I almost need to get a new bottle. Although, I think I usually take more than I should. I take a few drops, then still 30 min before the presentation then take a few more..etc
But in any case, I would definitely recommend it!
I would absolutely give it a try. I have been researching it since I saw that article and it seems to be a great alternative to other meds. Of course, as with all meds, your mindset towards it does wonders. If you think it is going to fail, then it will, if you can give it half a chance, then it may do you some comfort in times of stress. I have read where some pet owners have given it to their pets when the pet is anxious over something, 'high strung' or travelling, etc., and it calms them down. They put the dosage into the animal's water. So if you do not like the taste with the few drops on your tongue, you may want to put it in your orange juice or something else.
Good luck, I hope it works for you.

Just a reminder, Jeanie. I want you & everyone on the board to be safe. (((hugs))) jan
Stay Safe, Don't Mix
Medications of any kind, whether prescribed, purchased over-the counter, or borrowed, should never be mixed without consulting a doctor. Any health professional who's caring for you, and who could potentially prescribe a drug, including your dentist or another medical specialist, should be told of the medications you're taking.
Some drugs, although safe when taken alone, can cause severe and dangerous side effects if taken with others. Other drugs, like alcohol or street drugs, may reduce the effectiveness of antidepressants and should be avoided entirely. This includes wine, beer, and hard liquor. Some people who have not had a problem with alcohol use may be permitted by their doctor to use a modest amount of alcohol while taking one of the newer antidepressants.

that's a good point - I was always scared to take anything else while I was taking my meds before.. constantly calling the pharmacist to make sure something was ok.
One thing - incase for some reason you dont' know - Grapefruit interferes with some antidepressants... also interferes with ativan. Luckily I hate grapefruits - but somepeople really like them - they affect the effectiveness of these things. How I don't know - just what the pharmacist told me and I've seen a few things that confirmed that (reading on the net).
I haven't heard of Bach Rescue Remedy - what's in it?
Val
Hello Val,
The correct 'dosage' is only 2 drops and if mixed with a glass of water or juice or something it is almost non-existant. You'd probably get more alcohol from just rinsing with mouth wash as it is absorbed somewhat through your mouth and tongue and some is swallowed (yes, some now have gone non-alcohol, but not all).

Amy
I was looking at rescue remedy online and was wondering if you can buy it in stores or just online. Anyone know? Has anyone taken it? I'd like to know more about it.
TIA
Robin
