Valerie I'm a 55 year old female. I've spent most of my adult life suffering from various form of anxiety and panic. Until May of last year I was able to control the anxieties with the use of herbal combinations and great coping skills. In May the anxieties got so high I was no longer able to control them without help. I've been diagnosied as PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder With Anxiety. I currently take Lexapro and see a therapist once a month.

I have a 37 year old daughter and two grandsons ages 11 and 6.

I've been with my partner for ten years and we reside in the Middle of the Daniel Boone Forest in Central Kentucky. We are both great animal lovers and have already collected quit a few abused or unwanted "babies". We own 2 horses, a goat, 3 dogs, 9 cats, 3 roosters and 5 hens. Believe me when I say I doubt if we're done. LOL.

Nice to meet you and welcome to the board.

Hi Valerie,

Little bit about me ;-) I am a full-time college student in my last semester of nursing with 3 daughters to keep me busy!!

My anxiety is "controlled" with support, coping techniques, and a will to survive. I have tried medication in the past but dealt with complications and it was not worth it to continue. I have some issues with depression and low self esteem that I am working on with some success. Hopefully I will continue to grow and overcome my issues to lead a happy successful life.

Hi Valerie,
Welcome to the board and thank you for sharing your story with us as well. I am a pretty recent member to this board as well. I am a frequent ivillage visitor but to the July 2006 Expecting Club :).

I had some minor occurances with panic/anxiety about two years ago but they were directly related to having severe reactive hypoglycemia, once I got my diet under control the anxiety was totally gone. But, now that I am pregnant as soon as I hit my 2nd trimester I started experiencing panic attacks again. My issue is that I have anxiety sensitivity (which is an overreaction to bodily symptoms). I am also a very busy full-time mommy to a 6 yr old dd, wife to a 27 yr old DH (Mike) and a full-time college student majoring in psychology.

Like, Heather, I am a born again Christian and am learning that the more I try to struggle with this problem under my own strength the more I just plain struggle. I am using this time, as difficult as it is with the anxiety, and as joyful as it is getting ready to welcome a new life into the world and a new member to our little family, to draw closer to Jesus and re-learn what it is like to have to totallly rely on His strength.

Welcome again to the board. I hope you find some measure of comfort here. :)
