Hey Everyone I have been looking for a doctor(councelor)I was checking out someone in my area that says she uses holistic approach, what does that mean? And also what is Humanistic psychologist?

humanistic psychology was started by Carl Roggers in the 1940's. according to the humanistic approach, behavior is determined primarly by each person's capacity to choose how to think and act. and humanistic psychologists set these choices are dictated by each individuals's unique perceptions. humanistic psychologists believe that people are essentially good, and that they are in control of themselves and that their main innate tendency is to grow towards their highest potential.
I know it all sounds very theoretical, but i hope it helps. basically the main difference between the humanistic approach and other clinical approaches is there are no theories regarding human behavior, according to the humanistic perspective, each person is different and their behaviors are guided by their unique perceptions of the world.
I hope that helps!!
To answer the part of your question about holistic doctors, I found this on the web:
"The physician treats, but nature heals."
