This anxiety is taking over my life and I don't know what to do about it! I have been to doctors, anxiety psyciatrists and have been on effexor..which I am going to see about getting on again. But my anxiety is about the thought of being out of the home with diarreah. Everytime I have to leave my home I get severe diarreah..and I don't know what to do. I have had this now for 4 years..and every year it seems to get worse. I don't go anywhere anymore and I get pretty depressed about it..I have tried belly breathing, etc but nothing seems to help, cause when you have to go..you have to go! So nothing is working on getting that to go away..does anyone else have this specific problem? I don't know what to do anymore.
Crystal

Hello, Crystal! We're glad to see you:) Please don't think you are alone. Others in our caring community can relate to what you have shared. Anxiety is difficult to live with, but it's not impossible. Considering getting back on the effexor is a good plan. I did well on it for 3 years. It controlled my panic & got me out of the safety of my home.
As for the diarrhea, I'm not sure if you've been seen by a dr. but that would be a start. There are meds & changes in diet & routines that can help. Having IBS, I can tell you that's it's no fun @ all. I cannot eat big meals, fatty or sugary foods or even caffeinated products or I will be on the closest bathroom search): Stress & anxiety does play a big role for some folks. Getting the anxiety level down with meds, meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy
I have that similar problem,I wont go to peoples houses cause i have a fear of the all to familar cramp.I dont like to go away with other ppl either, because what if i have to go to the bathroom. This literally scares me.If i am out by myself its not so bad.I am curious to see what responces you get on this.
Hi Crystal & welcome!

Crystal,
Have you had your gallbladder removed? I had the constant diarrhea for about a year and was convinced it was IBS, but then I saw a GI doc and discovered that it was a complication/side effect fromt he surgery that no one had told me about called bile salt diarrhea. If you have had your GB removed, let me know and I can fill you in on all the details. There are meds for the condition and they literally changed my life!

Hi crystal, nice to meet you.
Judy
I see Janis already answered your question about finding out how to know if you have IBS so I wont repeat it.
