Hi all! I am Shannon and am wondering what is considered Anxiety and how you know if you may suffer from it.

I think I might but nothing that constitutes meds or anything I know for sure.

One thing I notice I do is when I am getting ready to go out with my friends. The day of going out, I instantly start thinking of ideas of how I can get out of not going even though I really want to go. I rarely bail on them (I think I've done this a few times in a few years so nothing major). But most of the time, I notice that when I DO go, I am so glad I did because I always have a good time.

Another thing I notice I do is I get very moody and nervous when we have to spend time with my MIL. I fear she is going to act like a big baby and I'm gonna have to tell her off or something. This affects my relationship for weeks on end with DH because I will sit and worry about what's going to happen when we get together with his family, before we even get together with them. And then when we do get together, nothing I thought would happen, happens, and then I leave severely drained because I sat on pins and needles for nothing!

Another thing i do is when I do go out with my family or friends I haven't seen in awhile, I get severely Euphoric!! I talk a mile a minute and have this unusual surge of energy that I have no idea where it comes from!! I love hanging out with friends and family, but sometimes I think my "anxiety" makes me talk more than normal or what not. It's really weird.

And finally the last thing I notice I do, concerns DH. He is the only one who experiences this side of me. I over react ALOT over small, small things!! I raise my voice to make myself heard and he can ask me a simple question and I will somehow thing he is micromanaging me and freak out!! I don't physically abuse him or anything but I just freak out and it's at this point, I feel like I become a completely different person because when

OMG! I know exactly what you are talking about! I thought I was the only one who did this. I had no idea it was connected to my panic attacks. I get so embarrassed but I can't control myself. It makes me paranoid that they think I'm drunk or something. lol.

Hi, Shannon! Nice to see you:) We cannot diagnose anxiety disorders. Like Sheri Ann has advised, being seen for a physical is the first step. There are conditions out there that may cause symptoms that seem like anxiety. All are treatable. When our anxiety interferes with our daily lives & we're unable to function, a combination of meds & therapy is shown to be the most effective treatment.

Here is an overview of anxiety conditions published by Waterfront Media. This is just for comparison purposes. Not a diagnosis. Others who post here have experienced these conditions.
