I am no stranger to anxiety, anxiety and I have been together for all most 10 years maybe even longer. During my bad years I did a lot of research on the subject and in the mean time I couldn't even walk to my mail box with out panicing. Anxiety never stops amazing me. I thought I knew all the symptoms. Guess not.
Has any one ever gone off a SSRI and got that buzzing electric feeling in their body? Especially in their head. buzz buzzzzz. well Im not going off off any meds and I rarely miss the ones that I am on now I'm too scared to. I never want to feel that sort of fear again.
For some time not I get that buzzing electric current going through out my body. It seems to hit me the hardest in the am which is when I use to have attacks. I finally looked it up and found a anxiety site and it explained that some people experience the current.
OMG!!! I thought maybe just maybe the attacks were fully gone.

Has any one else felt these currents? I hope yes.

WB! It's nice to see you again:) So, how is your anxiety these days? In spite of these new symptoms, are you getting out & getting on with life? If you have any new techniques to share on coping, we always want to hear.

I think more & more of the medical community is accepting the anecdotal evidence out there. Some folks do have trouble going off their SSRI's. The currents you speak of have been reported in all areas of the body. The arms & legs are common. I had a few zaps when I went off effexor. I did it with the doctor's help & decreased it slowly as advised. It was uncomfortable, but I still feel that the medication was valuable in treating my anxiety. I wouldn't be afraid to go on it again if I needed, too. Some folks have flu like symptoms or crying spells

See the problem is I have been on the same medication for a about a year so I don't understand why I get that zapping feeling. The site I found said that some people experience the current right before a attack hits, kind of like people who suffer from migraines they will get the flashing lights and Aura before the headache hits.

I use to have that out of body feeling right before I got the physical parts. Tunnel vision, dizziness and just feeling strange. YUCK!
I talked to my pdoc about the zapping feeling and he literally looked at like I was on drugs. He told me that missing one dose would not cause that and even going off cymbalta would not cause that. So I guess I should see a doctor about it.

I would love to share my experience with every one. Panic does not have to control your life. I went from being house bound to working full time and living a "normal" life. A lot of therapy a lot of trials on different meds and time. I still have them on occasion just a month ago I had a couple bad days ending with a day of anxiety. Dh even had to call in sick for me.

Hope this all made some since... its really early and my ativan hasn't kicked in, I still get antsy in the am. fun fun fun.

Yes is the answer here. My Dr. had just yanked me off of Wellbutrin 350 mg a day to nothing and I would have these electrical current feelings in my head especially......thought i was totally going crazy but like you I had my suspicions that anxiety had a HUGE role in it. Immediately the Dr. put me back on Wellbutrin and they left. I cannot take SSRI drugs for many reasons but it sure happened on this drug too. So yes I know excatly what you are talking about. I have no intentions of stopping again in the near future LOL Hope you get better and soon. Debbie
