...might simply be able to just reassure me or clarify.
We all talk about the chest pains associated with anxiety and panic. Well, the chest pains I've been experiencing are of a different nature this time.

Jennifer I so have been there. I know exactly what you mean by the pain in your upper ribs. The good news is it is not the heart, it could be gas :) A couple years about I was dx with IBS and Gerd. One of my biggest complaints was the pain under the ribs. Before the diagnosis I was convinced I had some thing wrong with my gall bladder or worse some thing was wrong with my lungs or heart.
When we get upset or overly stressed our stomach produces more acid which would be the reason for the burping and extra gas in our digestion track. It can hurt!!! Next time you feel the pings in your ribs try laying on your side for a while or eat a very small meal, like some toast or crackers. The pain will go away after the bubbles move from your upper intestence
hang in there., it is so easy for our heads to think some thing is seriously wrong. ((HUGS))))
Chest pain should never be ignored. That is the medical profession's opinion on the subject. I cannot tell you what I personally think you should do, Jennifer. That would be making a diagnosis & for liability purposes, that's against iVillage policy. But, I can tell you what I have experienced. Anxiety with chest pain. I have had panic attacks with chest pain from the time I was 17 until today @ the age of 53. I have been to the ER. I have had all sorts of tests. They were negative. I am fine. Sometimes I think it's gas or heartburn from my hiatal hernia. The ER
