iodine & thyroid troubles

I just wanted to share this in hopes that it may be of help to someone else out there...anyhow...I have had longtime thyroid problems but never anxiety, that is until my 3rd pregnancy. It all started when I started the prenatal vitamins containing iodine. i had taken other vitamins in the past w/iodine, but w/these I begin suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. I finally read something that thyroid patients can be hypersensitive to iodine, so I stopped, and the attacks stopped. So fastforward almost 2 years, and I again start multi vitamins containing iodine, and the attacks start again! I did have a few random anxiety episodes in between, but nothing like when I'm taking iodine. And thinking back, I have linked hives and anxiety to eating shellfish (a source of iodine). Has anyone else had this? It may be worth ditching the iodine just to see if it helps anyone else.
Best wishes!

Thanks so much for sharing, Laura. It is interesting info. It's something I would share with my dr. if you haven't already. I would also ask for more information to read up all I could on it. There's other foods & products that have iodine in them. You should learn what to avoid. I know for certain that the dye that's used in x-rays is not used if you have shellfish sensitivity. Also, some of the soaps used to clean skin before surgery contain iodine. (BTW, my mom is terribly allergic to it.) To keep you safe, I would always list shellfish/iodine as a possible
