Can someone please explain the differance between a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist. Just looking ahead and hoping I'll be able to get some real help but not sure what kind of help I need. I'm sure it's one or the other of these but not sure what the differances are between the two.

Hi Keitha :)
Just to add to Jan's answer - a psychologist may also be referred to as Dr. Smith or whatever, b/c it's possible for them to get a Phd in psychology. But they still can't prescribe meds. Only a psychiatrist, with the M.D. after their name can do that. Good luck!

Ladies thank you for answering my question. That helps alot in knowing what I need to look for if things work out for me. Otherwise I'm stuck with the quack and the therapist that is practically no help at all to me.
