I am 31 and have had anxiety since I was a child at times worse than others. The past 2 months have been the worse ever where I don't want to leave the house or go places, its affecting my whole mood. I do go out and got to work but I feel scared almost all day. I have seen my doctor and he has given me buspar I have been taking it for about 10 days I have felt no results yet. Im trying accupuncture next week also, I have been praying and trying to handf my worries over to god but my mind wont let me. Some days I want to run out of work screaming cause I feel so bad and scared. I worry about anything and everything possible and ALWAYS think the worse of everything I'm worrying about. I have read many books which say your are creating this in your mind, these things aren't really happening and i feel good for like 10 minutes and then it comes back.I want to be calm and to be patient and feel good and live each day and not think about what if this what if that..its horrible I always make up crazy scenarios in my head about stupid things....

If anyone feels the same and needs a friend email me adeo417@aol.com

Hello! We want to welcome you to our caring & supportive community. You are NOT alone. Many of us with anxiety have constant worries & fears of leaving our safe places.

Research has shown that antidepressants in conjunction with therapy is the most successful way to treat anxiety disorders. Buspar is a good medication for some folks to control anxiety. It works much differently than antidepressants. Also, most of the literature that I have read says it takes 2 weeks or longer for people to feel some improvement. Have you ever seen a therapist? Would you consider it? I know from my personal experience, that I needed help in becoming aware of my patterns of behavior. I needed some guidance in seeing how to manage my life differently. You have suffered for a long time. For many on our board it took us a long time to decide that we couldn't face feeling so awful & wanted our lives back. I hope the accupuncture helps. Only a couple people on the board have used it for anxiety. Let us know how it works for you.

Please post anytime. Check out the *coping tips & tricks* folder below on ways to relax yourself. I meditate, belly breathe & use the positive affirmations when I am anxious & panicky. Join us in chat where the other members will be happy to share their experiences with you. We want the best for you. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan
