My new boss just came up and wants to meet with me this afternoon. Should I tell her that I have a weekly appointment (without saying what it's for, obviously) on Thursdays and that I will make up the time missed? Should I not say anything at all and just discreetly leave for my appointments? It's on the online office calendar that I'm gone for an hour every Thursday. I feel like I should say something so she won't wonder where I am tomorrow, but I don't know how. At least with my old boss, I had known him for years and was more comfortable talking to him (though I didn't tell him the appointments were for therapy).

Hi Laura.
Sheri Ann
I would also bring it up by saying something like "I just wanted to let you know that I have to leave for an hour tomorrow. I have weekly appointments that I have to attend every Thursday, and I make up the time over the course of the week."
I always feel uncomfortable bringing up abscences with my boss, but I feel soooo relieved once it's done, since I never get the negative reaction I was expecting.
Thanks, guys. I had the meeting with my new boss, and it went very well. I always imagine things will go terribly, and then usually they end up being not as bad as I thought. She was very nice when I said that I have weekly appointments and asked no questions. So it looks like there won't be any problems there.
Less than 24 hours to go until I'm back to my sessions...
Laura
I am sooo happy you did it!

WTG Laura! Glad you were able to talk to your new boss and make a good impression with your honesty. You made the right choice.
