Zappy feeling in the brain?

i switch from paxil to celexa (in the 2nd week) due to pregnancy. last week i took 20mg of celexa and felt pretty good... but got worried about taking too much of an SSRI in first trimester so i started taking 10mg this week. Today i have been getting zappy buzy surges in the right part of my brain. i have been so stressed lately, due to new job, new house and now being pregnant. i wonder if i am going to have a stroke!

anyone know what this zappy sensation is?

Hi, Erika! I am sorry to hear about the stress & the uncomfortable feelings. In the best interest of you & the baby, call your dr. right away. I certainly am not suggesting that you're having a stroke. But any abrupt changes in meds MIGHT cause unusual symptoms. It would be better to not take any risks on our own by changing doses without checking with our health care provider first. Please let us know how you're doing. We care. I wish you the best of luck, a great pregnancy & the birth of a healthy baby. (((hugs))) jan

Hi Erika, I agree with Jan, please call your prescribing doctor for advice on how to proceed.

The zappy feeling you are experiencing is a withrawal symptom of Paxil (and many other SSRIs). I had the exact same thing you are experiencing when I discontinued Paxil abruptly.
