Hi There,
I'm new to the board. I have been looking around the interent for a support group for this kind of thing and came upon this board. I have been having panic attacks for several years. But within the past year it has gotten much worse. I can be sitting at my desk at work and then all the sudden feel like I'm not there. I sometimes talk to people and then all the sudden feel so weird I want to run out. It's really scarry. I hate driving to work because I'm scared I'll get that feeling. This stuff never happens at home just at work or somewhere else. I'm not on any medication and really don't want to be. I just wanted to know if anyone else does this and how do you handle it.

Thanks!

Hello! Welcome to our caring & supportive community. We are so glad that you found us. Please remember you are NOT alone. Others here can totally relate to how you're feeling.

Try out our *coping tips & tricks* folder below for ways to deal with your feelings without meds. I meditate every morning for relaxation. When I have the occasional panic attack, the belly breathing & positive thinking helps me allow the fear to pass through. I have also found that seeing a counselor can be effective. It's great to talk out fears in a safe place to an objective person who wishes me well. It doesn't mean you're crazy. Just that you need help & seeking help isn't shameful. As for feeling all this discomfort away from home, I can assure you that is more normal than not. We all have developed our safe havens & home is one of them. Some people even fear the anxiety/panic so badly that they don't leave home @ all & develop agoraphobia. YOU are leaving home & facing the fear everyday. That is AWESOME! Keep up the good work! Give yourself credit for a job well done, gf.

Have you experienced a major life change, such as a birth, death, move, loss of financial security, illness, accident, etc? These things can be very stressful & provide the trigger for increased anxiety/panic. Many on our board report that taking vitamins & minerals, eating well, getting enough sleep helps them reduce stress & find their balance. Exercise increases the endorphins(feel good hormones) in the body. I have alot of anxiety around my period & if I don't get
