So you know, I am going to also post this to the antidepressents board.

I am switching from Wellbutrin to lexapro. I am also on a weight loss journey that is going well. I am concerned about any weight gain that may be associated with lexapro. I know they say there is a low risk, but I guess I want real life peoples experience.

Thank you so much!!!!

Hugs and love to all

Hi, Wendy! LTNS;) I have never taken lexapro, so I can't help you out. We have others on it, including Sheri Ann our co-cl. Hopefully someone will add their 2 cents. How are you doing? It's always nice to have you drop in. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

I also just switched from wellbutrin to lexapro. I loved the wellbutrin for weight loss! I lost like 15 pounds in 2 months, it was spectacular. I've only taken lexapro two days and I'm absolutely terrified I'm going to gain the weight back. I feel like I'm eating a TON but maybe its because I am so used to having no appetite on wellbutrin? I don't know, but i'm hoping for the both of us that it won't cause weight gain... now where did i hide those cookies? ahh!

Thank you ladies for you input. I see that my fear of weight gain is haulting my switch... I am just so fearful of any weight gain. I have lost 28lbs and have about 30 more to go. I don't want to back track.. I have worked so unbelievably hard at this. I m however tappering off the wellbutrin, but havent started the lexapro yet. I guess as my husband says that if I start to gain, I can tapper off of it as well, so I guess i really just need to bite the bullet and go get the rx filled!

Thank you so much for you input it is so valued.

Great to see all of you as well.

I'm curious if the Wellbutrin helped your anxiety or was that even the reason you were taking it?

Well, wellbutrin was working really well for me for awhile (for severe depression, panic attacks and social anxiety). It hardly had any side effects for me other than weight loss- but who would complain about that? :) I'm actually switching back to it for awhile. I just tried zoloft and had hives in my face/throat so ended that quickly amd then lexapro and had a manic reaction. So in my opinion wellbutrin is great in comparison! I would definitely suggest it. goodluck and let me know how it goes!
