Hearing heart beat

I never considered the possiblity that I had anxiety, other than when in a stressful situation, or a nomal everyday aggraviating event happened.
I have been on Paxil 20mg for about 7 years now.

Yes, when I am laying in bed at night, and anxious, I can hear my heartbeating in my head.

(((Bev))) The heartbeating sound in your ears is pretty common to us anxious folks. Some folks consider it a palpitation that you HEAR, rather than FEEL. Nonetheless, it's dang annoying. Have you tried listening to a relaxing CD with earphones on? I have suggested this before, but my alarm clock has nature sounds to choose from that will play for an hour as I drift off. Very calming.
Stress actually is good for us in small doses. It keeps us alert & motivated. Ready to act if we were attacked or in a dangerous situation. But what you describe is too much. Though it can't always be avoided, you CAN de-stress to prevent any ill effects, such as health issues. Find yourself some *me* time. If only to drink a cup of tea as you soak in a bubble bath. Go out for lunch with a friend. If finances are a problem, just have coffee. A gf of mine was a struggling student & we couldn't afford anything. We used to go to an upscale restaurant where the tables by the window overlooking the airfield were @ a premium. In the mid-afternoon, we could get a seat there & order just a $5 Shirley Temple. LOL Exercise is free. Try walking. It will do wonders for your blood pressure. Get your doc's ok before you begin any exercise program. We have a local man that has started tai chi classes in the local park for free. I am sure you can find a stress buster in our *coping tips & tricks* folder below.
Wishing you luck, Bev. Keep your chin up. Let's hope the best is yet to come:) (((hugs))) jan
