Hi everyone-

Just thought I'd pop in with an update and to say hello...I FINALLY finished my first year at Cornell. After packing my stuff off to NYC, took a week in London to visit my husband and see the city.

London is beautiful, and I had a fantastic time. While there, Matt got me in for a "volunteer" cardiac MRI. Totally clear, not even an MVP. Also, during the forty minutes I was in there, I had three palpitations, and the EKG did not show any interruptions to my heartrate, so Matt thinks I'm just getting a stronger beat or two rather than an actual skip or extra beat. So now I have the evidence....there's nothing wrong with my heart! So hopefully this will help me to not get too drawn in to my attacks and stop having the heart-obsession thing at night.

Unfortunately, I started to panic toward the end and had to cry in the changing room for a minute. On the plane the next day, things were pretty bad with high anxiety through most of the trip and a few episodes of crying in the bathroom. After three or so hours of anxiety and panic I managed to calm down; then we hit heavy turbulence twenty minutes later which set mem off all over again. Then, when I got to the airport, my taxi driver was a nice guy who drov like a maniac and took a route I had never seen before through Queens (I guess to avoid midtown traffic) which totally freaked me out. BUT...I'm home now and it's over and I finally got that scan done, which I'm hoping will help.

Sorry I've been a drive-by poster....hopefully I'll get to visit more now that summer has started and I expect to have more free time.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Amy

Added an hour later....*sigh* Shortly after posting I had a couple nasty palpitations. Guess it's left over from yesterday. Freaked out for a few minutes but have pretty much calmed down.

Hi, Amy! WB! That is awesome news that the MRI was negative. Now, when you have the palps, remind yourself that all is ok & other positive thoughts. Practice your belly breathing so you're ready to

Thanks, girls!

I think last night's palps/anxiety was residual from the trip home. Today I'm pretty okay...had a little anxiety during breakfast, but got it to subside. Two hours at the salon getting my hair and nails done helped too.... ;O)

I need to work on relaxation, and practice the breathing. I try to do it, but I don't think I do it right and end up with a strange breathing pattern for a while, which sometimes triggers more palps. I'm *worrying* less about my heart but still get caught up monitoring it for no reason.

I'm working on a personal website...I'll post the link when there is something to see!

I hope to make a chat later this week.
