I was talking w/my older brother the other night after our father told him to call me regarding that Health Department interview. He proceeded to give me suggestions about my interview regarding me resigning from a similar position back in 2004. Basically, he said that i should just say I was going through a lot then (e.g., coming back from overseas, meeting someone, etc.), which actually does make a lot of sense. I asked him if he was sure about this, and he reassured me yes. I asked him later if I could talk to him about how I phrase this further w/o mentioning too much about my personal life, and he agreed to talk with me further about this. Then, I told him about my GAD diagnosis, and needless to say, he was shocked. He was looking at the description on his PC, and frankly didn't seem to think that I made mountains out of molehills or had that kind of problem. I did tell him that many of my friends did consider me a worry-wart, which was news to him...not surprised though, since my brother and I haven't really been able to spend that much time together since he left the house at 18 for college.

He then suggested that I read that book by Dale Carnegie called, "How to Stop Worrying and start living", which coincidentally I tried to read a few years ago, but never got around to finishing it. My parents actually loaned me the book again, and I actually read a few chapters this morning. I guess now it has more meaning to me at 33 than it did at 26.

I also proceeded to tell my brother about me practicing the breathing exercises, and the positive support network prescribed by my psychologist, and he actually admits me sounding calmer since Easter. OMG! A compliment from my brother..that's a first! *LOL* I mean, my brother overall is a good guy, but with the big age difference, we never really got that close..he's 5-6 years older than me.

Like I said before, I do feel myself worrying less about what might happen. This breathing exercise is great! I learned after practicing this a couple of times, that I know it's working as long as I'm taking a really big, deep cleansing breath through my abdomen rather than just breathing through my abdomen just to breathe! It's really great!

Maybe with all that's going on, you can reconnect with your db, Yaddiya. That is one more supportive person for your team;) Please feel free to post your book in our self help book thread in the *coping tips & tricks* folder below. Thanks so much for sharing. The info for the job interview will come in quite handy to our members who have had anxiety interrupt their careers. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Actually, I won't really have another OBGYN appointment. The next time I go into the hosptial will be for my induction on June 7th or 8th depending whether or not I have the baby then.

Send positive labor vibes my way! Thanks again for everything!
