Got bad news....

I got a rejection letter today for the interview I went on last week. I am feeling really low about it because I applied for many positions there and they basically told me to take a hike forever.
In my book this is on the top ten horrible list for my month. They did make a point when I spoke to them that I don't have much experience...how do you get nursing experience right off graduation unless someone gives you a chance??
So I am trying to fight the bad feelings and anxiety. What a bad week!! Tomorrow is Sunday and according to my calendar its a new week. So I am going to start the day off by getting a newspaper and looking for other jobs. My area has nothing for nurses!! What bothers me the most is the *myth* that there is a shortage.
It also bothers me that people think I have it made now that I have my degree. My life is a financial nightmare and I have very few options. I feel that I wasted the last 4 years going to school and digging myself a giant hole of debt.
Thanks for listening to me rant, rave, and wallow in self pity.
I needed to get it off my chest...cause I can't breathe.

I *hope* this is all happening for a higher reason...like a dream job around the corner or something. I think its time to take a break from the old plans and come up with some new ones. Maybe I should start out in nursing home and work my way up. I just had stars in my eyes about getting a L&D position or something exciting.
Thanks for supporting me! I truly appreciate it,
Lisa

Like Sheri Ann said and hey can't you use clicals as experince? and any care you have given people in the past. I wouldn't worry at all about that it wasn't mean't to be and hey it is their lose. Hang in there you are doing all you can do and hey that is all anyone can do, You will get the best RN postion I can feel it.

Thanks Lynn,
I truly appreciate your support, I am feeling quite low over this whole thing. I am trying to add a positive spin and tell myself that there is a better job out there for me.
The problem is they rejected me from all their jobs...not just one. Which is really wierd but that is what the interview was about. So there is only one hospital left for me to try, then it is off to nursing homes.
Hugs,
Lisa
Lisa,
You could check the docs offices or a be a private nurse for someone, I have heard they have good hours and plus can pretty much be in control. GF you are good and hey maybe the big man is saying you need a rest. Just trust know you are good all you can do and God will do the rest ok. You know you deserve a good job and that is what you will get, don't just settle for something you will not enjoy ok.

Hey Lynn,
There is one small problem with that plan...I applied for this hospital "system" they run the large hospital, the outlying clinics, and home care. They told me I would not be considered for any position within this sytem. So this basically took 40% of the jobs out there away from me. There is one more hospital sytem to apply for and If I don't get hired with them for a clinic/hospital position another 40% of jobs will be unavailable. Then the *only* thing left will be nursing home.
It really sucks but this is how it works here. 2 main honchos run all the facilities here and if they don't want you there aren't many options.
Lisa
YOU DESERVE BETTER than this!!!
I have no idea what the problem was other than the experience
that always kills me how can EVERYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE????
GO FOR THE OTHER HOSPITAL! Maybe there is a reason for this.
GOOD LUCK in what you decide. YOU worked hard to get your degree
and should get a GOOD JOB!!! HUGS!! Judy
Thanks Judy,
I have been quite bummed about this, feel like its a little unfair. Like I'm being punished for not working full-time for the past 15 years. Well what do they expect?
Let's just say its their loss.
I looked up the other hospital and the only openings they have right now require minimum 1 year med-surg experience. So looks like they won't be too welcoming either.
Lisa
Lisa, I"m thinking that IF they return your phone call tomorrow, tell them you would love to become part of their team & ask what you can do to get experience that would be a good fit for their team.
Sheri Ann
Hey Sheri Ann,
I am not feeling very positive about that facility anymore. I feel that they were a little two-faced about the whole thing. When I was there they discussed positions with me as if I had the job and explained benefits, gave me the employee newsletter, they totally acted as if the interview was a minor inconvenience. I really felt that things went well and that I would be called for a second interview.
I think I will sharpen my skills, learn some new interview techniques, and spruce up my resume and try somewhere else.
Thanks for the support!!
Lisa
