I have soical anxiety disorder and was doing fairly well I thought with everything here lately. I have been my taking my medicine faithfully (10mg of lexapro and xanax as needed) and I have read a couple of really good books that haved helped me. Now I feel like I am going backwards with everything!
I really don't feel like the lexapro is helping me very much. I was on buspar before and that wasn't doing anything either. This is my second med change and I think it needs to happen again. I know I need to get in touch with a good psychatrist but I don't know who to go to and also who can get me in relatively quickly. One lady that I know has a waiting list until Aug. and there aren't that many in my town.
I feel like such a basket case. I get sooo extremly nervous around my in laws and I don't know why. They are the nicest people and would do absolutley anything for you. They have been nothing but nice to me and I have known them for 7 years now. I just clam up when I am around them. I can't shake the feeling when I am around them. I barely talk to them when they are around. I just get so nervous and can't.
Someone told me that paxil is good for social anxiety disorder. Has anyone had any experience with paxil? I have heard both negative and positive. Thanks for listening to me vent :)

My pdoc told me that the optimum dose for most people is 20 mg.

in laws!! I too had a hard time socializing I would make myself
so nervous planning on what to talk about I would just freeze up!!
I was also afraid I would say the WRONG thing and make an idiot of
myself!! I agree with Sheriann that perhaps your med could be
increased! If you take xanax before you go and see your in laws does
it help??? just curious---
I would also suggest that you try building your confidence a bit!
Write down some good qualities about yourself and good things you
have done------ look them over before one of your visits with them!
BE GOOD TO YOURSELF!!! Judy
Hello mlb21,
Being nervouse around in-laws I have always felt that way until I ask myself why? They put thier pants on just as I do, but I understand have you shared this with your DH? AS far as the meds, I totally agree with Sheri Ann. I had my meds upped and I feel fine now, but talk to your doc. It couldn't hurt.
