Hi,

I am 38/female lately I have these feelings where I am soooo hot (hands, feet)that rushes to my head, face and I feel dizzy that I am going to faint (never have though). It is very scary & it usually hits right out of the blue for no reason. I am always feeling hot (Clammy). Does anyone have these symptoms when you have anxiety? My Doctor has sent me for blood work, had the heart monitor and everything checked out ok. Next I have to collect my urine for 24 hours starting this Sunday. Just wondering what it feels like..... Thanks.

Oh god I hope my urine test goes ok too........

I have had symptomes like that before but normally they have other ones along with those. We all are different in our anxiety and panics. Try to keep a positive attitude it will make things better.

I think it's great that you are getting a work-up from your doctor.

You sound just like me. Any chance you might be starting meopause. I started at 39 and at 43 have not had a period in 6 months. It really sounds like you are having a hot flash. My menopause has realy brought on fellings of anxiety. I am struggling every minute. My doctor seems to think it has all been brought on by changing hormones. Have your doctor check your blood for hormone levels. I was shocked when my blood work came back at the age of 39 especially when I was still having periods every month. Good luck with your feelings wahtever the cause. I know it is scary when you get hot and can realy bring on the panic.

Hi Marybeth and to all,

When I mentioned to my doctor if I could possibly be in perimenopause he stated no way that you were too young for it. The Doctor actually said that I had a slight fever when I went to him and I could have kicked him because he would too if your body is on fire. I still get my periods very light though not sure if that matters. The feelings that I get are not everyday but when I do the heat sensation is unbearable to my hands (hot clammy), feet, behind my neck and face up to my head where my neck feels stiff – dizzy unstable to walk that I am just going to fall and the heart pounds a little more than it should. I hate when this happens to me at work (the feeling of passing out). Monday I had an episode and I had put an ice pack on the back of my neck, it helped to cool me down but still feeling a little lightheaded. At home I would just lie down for a good hour and I am fine - you could actually touch my hands at that point and it's cold. Doctor did do blood test for the lipid panel, thyroid, and cholesterol (not sure what else but everything came back ok. I start this Sunday for the 24 hour urine sample “Pheo Screen”.

Married 12 years, no kids, no stress, worries or frightening feelings just a very easy going individual, never argue with hubby – it’s just such a weird feeling. I guess if the urine comes back ok than I will have to make a visit to my OB/GYN and hopefully she will not say the same thing as Doctor. Not even sure what this urine sample checks for – maybe it will tell me something about my hormones (I hope).

Do they treat menopause and anxiety the same way???

I will keep you posted……

I agree that it might be worth getting your hormone levels checked.

If you don't get satisfaction from your dr. try an ob/gyn. I have known several women who went through menopause in their late 20's. It DOES happen. Any dr. who poo poos you & says you're too young, is clearly wrong. You need the hormone levels to be sure. But, if it is anxiety, all testing is good to rule out medical problems. That will give you alot of reassurance. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan
