Hi all! I just wanted to give an update and some of my experiences to anyone thinking of taking Lexapro. I have tried many SSRI's and the only effective one was Effexor. Then 6 years later, it stopped working after my baby was born. I am on week 3 of Lexapro and I cant tell you how great I feel. The first week was strange. I had bowel (TMI?) issues, ringing in ears, anxiety. Then it was like a cloud lifted an I feel great. As some of you know, my husband is away a lot and the panic when he was gone was overwhelming. He left this morning for a week and Im actually ok. Its also starting to thunder, bad storms in FL lately and Im still ok...If the lights go out, Ill freak but lets not get ahead. Im getting out more and people say I look like I lost about 10 pounds. One thing though....After taking the pill, I am so dead tired! I nap for about 2 hours! While my dd is sleeping. My house is for sale and I had a very hard time showing my house, worring about my dogs...this morning I said "the dogs are in the fenced area, if you dont want to get jumped on, dont go there". I didnt panic like I used to. I still take .25 xanax with the pill which Im sure adds to the sleepinies but it helps take the edge off. We are moving to NC and I just cant wait. Im leaving 7/6 with my mom so she can buy a home there too. He is changing careers and I truely believe theres a light at the end of the tunnel. I once felt doom. One step at a time. Oh, Im still trying to find a therapist that takes Aetna, whats up with Aetna anyway? Ill chat with you all later....
I want to hear how everyone elese is doing. Im sorry if I seem absorbed with myself.

I asked for samples of Lexapro yesterday and my Dr. wants me to take it with the Buspar that I have been taking almost 4 weeks. I don't think the Buspar was doing me any good and I wonder why I have to take both. Any advice? Sheri

Honestly, SHeri, Buspar didnt work for me. Im not saying th combinatin wont work for you, you should listen to your dr. The worse that happens is you drop the Buspar and stay with the Lexapro. I just think you may need the 10. That was great for me.

A combination of meds isn't unusual. The buspar has helped some folks here on the board. For me, it wasn't enough to cover my panic & anxiety. It takes awhile to get the right meds & dosage to get us back to feeling better. I know that's hard for us, because we all want to be better now. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan

Congrat's!

Glad to hear that Lexapro is working for you. That is so encouraging:-)

I'm on a lower dose for the last two weeks for Anxiety, PTSD and night terrors. I go see my doc again today I will talk to him about an increase in dosage.

I am not sure about how to change the name on this to and from? Anyways, SheriAnn, about the ocd, I am not sure. I would probably say no because I have seen people on news shows that comb the rug fray or lock the locks 25 times. I only recheck things a couple of times . I would probably attribute that to forgetfulness. Maybe I should read up on that. I know I have obsessive thoughts all the time. Sheri

I had the obsessive thoughts all the time, too.
