I'm really tired of this anxiety. It's now been 2 1/2 weeks since I started Paxil and today I'm so anxious, I started vomitting again. The thing is, I had a pretty good day yesterday. I went to a wedding and felt pretty good (just a few anxious moments, not bad). I'm wondering if this is an indication that paxil isn't working for me or do I just need to give it more time? I feel nervous almost constantly and its hard to sit still, yet I'm exhausted. Can someone help me please? Do I call my doctor and up the dose, change meds, be more patient?

If I am not mistaken, the meds could take 4to 8 weeks I thought to start working.. I thought the norm was 4 to 6 for them to kick in.. I would mention this to your doctor however, I would continue taking the Paxil dont stop.. You have come this far I'd give it more time. Would the doctor prescribe some Zanax in the mean time while the Paxil is working its way through your body?? That would help with the immediate anxiety.. I tried Paxil and other SSRI's however my body didnt agree with them but like I said you have come this far dont stop of corse unless your doctor tells you to do so then thats different. If you have Xanax available to you i would take it or at least break one in half. You mentioned vomitting, is that from the anxiety? or is it from the meds?? If you think thevomitting is from the meds call the doctor.. I had nausea so bad on Paxil it was worse then being pregnant!! Sip on some minty tea or suck on some peppermints that may help.. The best of luck to you.. Kriss

Today was my first day back to work. As some of you know, I've been home for a month recoverying from a hysterectomy. I took an Ativan with the Paxil this morning and have had a good day. As soon as the Ativan wears off though, I'm anxious again. Its not as bad as before I took the AD, but still annoying. I just feel so broken and want to be whole again. I'm not sure if the continued anxiety is because I'm addicted to Ativan or if the paxil is just not working. I'll give it another week (week 4) and then call my doctor if this is still going on. Anyone have to wean off ativan?

I do not think you are addicted to the Ativan.

Today was bound to be an anxious day. Changes in our routines always produce anxiety. Sometimes just *free floating* that seems as if there's no cause or reason. I would give the paxil more of a chance. Many folks take the ativan more frequently until the antidepressant kicks in. Then, begin to cut back. Always check with your dr. before changing your dose, whether up or down.

It's hard to be patient, Candace, but it will come. Have you tried the belly breathing or meditation? Practice when you can, so when you need these coping methods, they'll be like second nature. I admire you for returning to work. Focus on the positive. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan
