hi ladies,

as if i wasn't having a bad day already....i found out today during a "routine" ultrasound that i have placenta previa...basically my placenta is over the cervical opening....bad news.

there is nothing that can be done about this, i just need to be monitored very closely, it causes bleeding and can be as simple as some light spotting to as complex as being fatal for both the baby and mother due to blood loss.

That's a shame, Heather. I know that noone wants more complications. Please remind yourself that this was found early & you are getting good medical care. My P&T's are with you. (((hugs))) jan

(((Heather))),

I wanted to post to reassure you that even tho you have placenta previa it can have a good result. During my last pregnancy I had placenta previa and was told many of the things you mentioned. I had some bleeding throughout the pregnancy, had regular testing and was put on bedrest.

If your previa is mild and not completely covering the opening you have a good chance for normal delivery. It is best to listen to your doc and follow his orders. I was able to deliver normally without any major bleeding. My dd was born premature *but* it was not due to the previa. She came out a whopping 8 lb. 3 oz. at 5 weeks early!

Take care and get lots of rest!

Hi Heather, I am sorry you have to go through this!!
My daughter had that but did not know it and our grandbaby

My daughter is fine now but is afraid to go through this again---
Keep in touch with your doc and know I am praying for you and your baby!
Sorry for the worry you now have! HUGS!! Judy
