Good morning everyone. Well yesterday was my first day on zoloft, and it went rather well, I slept good and everything, but this morning I woke up at 6am, and I am very figgity and kind of feeling nauseas. It is a disgusting way to wake up. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced these side effects and if so , how long do they tend to last for? Also I find my hands are insanely warm..... Well, thanks for listening, any input or advice is more than welcome..... hope everyone woke up a bitter nicer than I did today, and I hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Kindra, I had similar side effects when I started taking Paxil 4 weeks ago. The nausea and shakiness lasted about 2 weeks, but gradually got better. I have to say it was worth going through because now I'm feeling so much better. I still have a little bit of nausea in the morning, but its manageable. You can call your doctor and ask for some xanex or ativan to help you get through the first week or so. That's what I did and it really worked for me. Good luck!

I have not taken zoloft, Kindra. But when I have started a new med, I am overly anxious & tend to have all sorts of sensations. Keeping busy physically & finding any sort of mind diversions usually will get me through the first few days. This is a good drug & I hope you'll find success with it. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan

When the doc very first started me on Paxil, if I remember correctly, she started me on 10mg, but had me cut the tablet in l/2 for 2 weeks and take it at bedtime.

The nausea could be drug-related, or related to a fear of meds, or it could be a bug going around ;)

Hi everyone, just thought I would check in. my day got a bit better, the nausea went away so that was great. Now my question is, have you ever started a new medication and experienced panic attacks FROM the meds??? I dont no, I havent had an actual panic attack in about a month, and I had one in IGA this morning. Maybe because I am so scared of meds, I did it to myself, because I am waiting for a bad reaction??? Please give me your input and let me no what all of you think, Thank you all for being so supportive, its nice to no when I am worried or just have a zillion questions there are people here who understand and care!! (((hugs to all)))

Hi Kindra! I started Zoloft on the 29th of June and the nausea for me developed I think on day 2 or 3. It peaked this last Sunday (day 10), and now Monday(11) and today(12) I have been nausea free! I agree with you it's a horrible way to wake up. That's what it did to me this last Sunday. I also got really tired the first 5 days or so, but that went away quicker than the nausea.

Good Luck,

I remember reading on the Zoloft website, and it said that one of the side effects is that it can cause anxiety in some people. I would check with your doctor about the panic attack this morning. Like you said, it might just be getting worked up OVER the meds, but I would check to be on the safe side... I know over the last 12 days I've had anxiety that has come and gone, but overall I am feeling better. It's taken a while to get used to it, and I'm still adjusting. Again, best of luck... (o:

Hi Kindra,

i was on zoloft for 4 days and had a major panic attack. the dr says I wasnt on it long enough to have a side effect. but we stopped it none the less. im supposed to start a new med, but am scared. not sure if it was from the zoloft or not.. but it was just my experience. zoloft states one of the side effects is anxiety.. but should go away after two weeks.

good luck. :)

Ok, so here's the thing. I am on my 2nd day of Zoloft, I havent had a panic attack in over a month, so it was just to help with my anxiety and obsessive thoughts, well here's the thing, this morning I had a minor panic attack, and I have been fighting off panic ALL DAY LONG. It is now almost midnight where I am, but every time I lay down I can feel the panic coming. This is crazy. I am really starting to think that maybe Zoloft isnt for me. I dont want to be a quitter too early, but I really dont want the panic to come back. I would rather just have the anxiety. Does this make sence to anyone?? I am begging, some one please give me some advice before morning rolls around and I have to make the decision all by myself...... take the little pill or not........... Thanks for listening once again!!!

Kindra, I had the same problem when I started Paxil 4 weeks ago. I took ativan for the panic and it helped tremendously. Maybe you can get something like ativan to help you while your body adjusts to Zoloft. I'm doing so much better now and I'm glad I stuck with the meds. Every time I've started an anti-depressant, I had to go through more panic in the beginning, but it does go away.
