uneasy feeling at work

I have not long returned to work after 10 years(kids. I work in a Chemist shop (drug store). I had previously worked in the same line of work for approximately 10 years before in which i felt very uneasy about going to work because of my boss. He was very intimidating and arrogant and every thing else that goes with that. Now that I have started back at work, I have the same feeling with the new boss. I get quite queasy when I have to go to work. I am good at my job, but I feel uneasy when the boss is around and I feel he doesn't like me much (never talks to me unless he is giving me a job to do). I get very nervous and slightly fidgity. I get an uneasy feeling inside and feel he is watching me. Is he really doing this or is it my immagination. But how can I go to work and do my job and get rid of these annoying feelings. He talks to all employees "like a boss". He's not just 'one of us' who can give orders. He is intimidating. help. I want to enjoy my job and feel comfortable.

Welcome to our community. It's nice to see you:) I am unsure why you have posted these questions. Do you think or perhaps know that you have an anxiety issue/disorder? Some folks have trouble with authority figures. I'm not suggesting you have a rebellious nature or anything like that. It may be that authority figures scare you a little, causing this uneasy feeling. I can relate to that. Most ppl working need their jobs & income. You feel pressure to do everything right & proper & it can be scary knowing that you could be fired if you don't please the boss.

As for the feeling of being watched, being new to your job, it's likely you are being observed to make certain you're following all the policies. We all have been in that posistion & it does make us a bit uneasy. However, if this is affecting your performance & remains an intense feeling, perhaps there's something more @ work here.

Have you seen a doctor lately? I always suggest that when anxiety is suspected that ppl see a dr. for a check-up. There maybe some treatable illness, like thyroid or low blood sugar problems. The dr. is trained to recognize anxiety issues & will be able to suggest treatment that will help you.

Please post anytime with questions or concerns. We do care about you & want you to feel more comfortable @ your job. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan
