Car:

The grand total for all the repairs was $465. Greeeaaat. And to think last month I spent over $350 at the vet for my cat. The mechanic is a friend of my dad's, so I do trust his judgment and his prices have always been fair. Certainly cheaper than what I would pay in the city where I live. That's why I go to the trouble of taking it to my hometown an hour away. I have to take it back Saturday so they can finish working on it. They installed the new starter, but there's some other work that still needs to be finished.

Job:

Oh, but it continues to get worse. You guys know I took yesterday off so I could take the car in for repairs. Well, I have a rule that when I'm off work, I do not check work e-mail. I come in today and there was an e-mail yesterday from our boss telling us that one of our interns had been murdered! I just read an article about it online. Apparently, someone came into the house he shared with roommates and murdered them all before killing himself. It's very upsetting, of course, to everyone here.

Then a mass e-mail to the division came this morning from the lady I had interviewed with. She was announcing the new hire for the position I did not get. One week to the day that I found out I didn't get it. Lovely timing there.

Oh, and one of the coworkers I actually like got hired for a position in another department. Promotion and pay raise. Of course, I'm glad for her. But I also am jealous and bitter because I want to get out and I deserve a better position too.

And...my coworker/friend H. just e-mailed me to say that another colleague of ours (in a different department) has also been hired for a different job.

All these people getting hired, but not me and H. We've been trying for months to get out of here and no luck.
